Collins: Agreeing to more than 10,000units goes beyond my signing authority. I will have to call our main office in New York and see what they think.

Sohn: Yes, please. Go ahead, Mr. Peters.

Collins: To be honest, we may not be able to order more than 10,000 units regardless of the quality.

Sohn: Let me get this straight, you mean you can’t order more than 10,000 units?

Collins: Thats right. As we have suggested to you,wed like to place an order for about 5,000 units to start with: as a sort of preliminary stage to get this negotiation rolling. And if the demand is strong, we would like to gradually increase our order according to the current market situation.

Sohn: My company would greatly appreciate your rather large order. That was a very nice presentation Mr. Peters.
